Meriam Park to host new drive-in venue

Kristian: the idea is to host a drive- in movie theatre right here in meriam park.

It would look just like this picture here, you can see the big movie screen and they are hoping to fit about 150 cars.

For months now - families have been stuck at home because of the coronavirus pandemic.

But dan gonzales - owner of meriam park in chico is working to change that.

Since movie theatres are shut down due to covid concerns - gonzales plans to open up an outdoor movie area for people to come out and enjoy.

Dan gonzales/owns meriam park: the whole idea is how to get people out of their houses and in a community setting and safely doing so.

The theatre will be places where people can gather in their cars and see some entertainment, and some concession stands for people to eat, a beer cart and nachos beers and burgers things like that.

But that's not all - he also wants to eventually use this space for drive-in concerts too - just like you see here.

The goal is to provide a fun and safe place for people in the community to visit.
