Mt. Vernon Volleyball's Off-season Work Paying Dividends Despite Pandemic

Sports were given th outs..

But if we are being honest..

Not everyone does the optional conditioning.

However..

This summer was completely different..

And athletes knew that if fall sports were given the green light..

They had to be ready to go.

Mt.

Vernon's volleyball team found a way to make it work..

Despite the pandemic..

And the results are showing in their season.

The coronavirus pandemic forced the closure of schools in our area, and as a result, high school athletic teams were unable to meet during that time.

And over at mt.

Vernon, the wildcats volleyball team knew they would have to make adjustments.

Five months off and, as a coach, i made a goal to stay in contact with these girls and we had virtual team meetings and we set challenges not only with volleyball challenges, at home drills, but other kinds of workouts too.

Over quarantine, coach did a really good job of sending us workouts and we had on google drive a folder and we would send videos of us doing workouts so the whole team could see.

It was kind of like a motivation.

-brooke that quarantine we really hit it hard.

We wanted to be successful this year and we are praying and hoping we would have a season and for us to work hard when we are at home is just really important for us and we came out strong and we want to keep going.

Despite a pandemic forcing the team to isolate..

Mt.

Vernon got off to a perfect 9-0 start..

Proving that their hard work has paid off and showing the wildcats camaraderie has grown.

I think covid honestly brought us together because we know our time here is limited and so, we really wanted to work hard and keep it up and so us being here, we don't take it for granted.- brooke we keep telling each other to stay positive but play each game like it could be our last because you never know.

Mt.

Vernon's goal this year is to make their presence known in their new conference..

And so far..

They have done just that.

Mt.
