Stephanie britt...: there is more than one way to solve a problem.

Stephanie britt...: in high school, they actually needed someone to teach the algebra one class for a teacher who had to go on jury duty.

I was in calculus at the time and they said, "hey, we need somebody to help us out in this class.

Would you do it?"

Speaker 2: as a high schooler, she got her first taste of teaching and fell in love.

Now she hopes to help sixth graders in franklin county find that same joy in math.

Stephanie britt...: i think it's important that you relate math to their world.

So, we do a lot with football season.

Actually, last year we did a whole series using toilet paper to teach math, which was an interesting thing, but the kids loved it.

Speaker 2: she hopes by relating to the kids, she can answer an age old question.

Stephanie britt...: "why do i need to know this?"

That's the most famous question in the world.

"when am i ever going to use this in the real world?"
