Local urologist, Dr. Hanan Goldberg, says prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer, and reminds men to get regular check-ups.

New this morning.... we hear from a urologist at mvhs on the importance of getting screened.

1:14 -- "most cancers, i would say 60% of them, are diagnosed in men over age 65.

But we sometimes see them occur in younger men.

The mean age of diagnosis is about 66.

So it's a very common cancer affecting a lot of men.

So early diagnosis is actually key to this kind of cancer."

-- 1:35 dr. goldberg says from 1993 to 2017... the death rate from prostate cancer decreased by more than half because of early detection and diagnosis.
