Lawmakers tour through wildfire devastation
Lawmakers tour through wildfire devastation

Rep.

Doug LaMalfa and Sen.

Jim Nielsen toured through Feather Falls looking at destruction caused by the Bear Fire

Smoky night with clear sky above the smoke layer.

Lows will range from the 30s and 40s in the mountains to the 50s and 60s in the foothills and valley.

Air quality will continue to be unhealthy to hazardous for essentially all areas on saturday with a mix of smoke and a little sunshine.

Highs will be slightly warmer than today, ranging from the 80s to the lower 90s for both the mountains and the lower elevations.

New tonight -- local lawman touring the fire damege.

Action news now reporter brandon benitez rode with congressman doug lamalfa and senator jim nielsen as they saw the destruction.

He shows us what their plan is moving forward... bb: i'm in feather falls where just over my shoulder you have congressman lamalfa and senator nielsen.

We're touring the area seeing all the destruction the bear fire has caused -- but it's destruction they're familiar with... nat: water pouring///shovel digging crews still putting out fires... everywhere we went -- trees and brush burned for miles... nielsen: all this that we have seen here today will take decades to ever restore itself to it's state before these fires.

Bb: so much devastation in the area but barns like the one behind me as well as the house over to my right -- are still standing.

This region is no stranger to wildfires caused every way imaginable-- but lamalfa and nielsen want the state to be proactive... not reactive...
