44news reporter megan diventi is live tonight from the school -- with a look at the staggering number -- of tigers now in quarantine.

Jessica- according to this letter sent to parents from the school sunday---within the last 8 days---6 people have tested positive for the coronavirus... as a result--- the school is using virtual learning -- to mitigate the spread.
Covid-19-- prompting big changes at memorial high school-- the diocese of evansville announcing --- the entire student body -- will be moving into a virtual- only schedule for the week -- after -- 6 confirmed positive cases.
In an email sent sunday afternoon to parents-- obtained by 44news--- school officials say -- 130 students, or more than 20% of the student population -- must quarantine.
The school is working with the vanderburgh county health department to prevent those numbers from jumping*any higher.
"we've been working with them in close contact--really on a constant basis..they've had some cases within their student body pop up and they then identified close contacts...they are very quick and good at creating a list of close contacts there."
While students are learning from home -- teachers and staff will still be working from the building -- and lunch will be provided to families - who request it.
Athletics will continue -- for students and coaches -- who are not designated close contacts.
This follows last weeks announcement -- from the diocese of evansville -- where 28 students and 4 coaches from one high school team -- were put into isolation -- following 2 positive athletes.
44news has tied that quarantine -- to the cancellation of 3 girls volleyball matches -- between memorial -- and other tri-state schools.
The county as a whole -- is seeing growing case rates -- with more than 3- hundred added to the list in the last week.
In this letter to parents-- school officials say -- they are working on adjusted learning plans -- that will likely be implemented next week... and tonight--the diocese of evansville says they have learned of five additional positive tests--- from three different schools.
