United Way of Olmsted County is looking to lend a hand to students struggling to adapt to distance learning during the pandemic.

Programs supporting students in need.

Xxx katie... students and parents alike have seen an entirely new set of responsibilitie s fall onto their shoulders since the beginning of the pandemic... and organizers at united way are worried they're impacting low?

That's why they're now asking non?

"* profit organizations working on the front lines of this issue to submit applications to them for grant funding.

They're specifically seeking applications from programs helping immigrant, black, indigenous, latino and rural students.

Officials at united way tell me these communities were struggling before the pandemic... and distance learning has only made educational disparities worse.

"*19, both the healh impacts and the economic impacts, and then these impacts to education, are really going to disproportiona tely fall on those communities of color and we're seeing that here in olmsted county."

And johnston says more help is needed both in rural parts of olmsted county and here in the med city.

She tells me rochester public schools has a list of over two?

"* hundred families who need help establishing high?

"*speed internet.
