Despite the improvement in containment, fire officials are very much worried about the wind for the Bear Fire.

They're trying to get ahead of the fire now, before the dry and hot conditions that can fuel the fire this weekend.

Despite the improvement in containment, fire officials are very much worried about that wind coming this weekend.

Action news now reporter esteban reynoso spoke with cal fire tonight about what they're doing to prepare for it.

This is the updated map of the entire north complex fire, the west zone also known as the bear fire you can see a lot of black lines which is where the fire is contained as of now.

These red lines however, are where the fire is still burning, and they're an area of concern for fire crews.

"first of all, the entire west side as you can see has black line on it."

A large portion of the west zone is contained right now.

"we are aggressively as we possibly can, taking care of everything early so that no matter what happens this weekend, we'll be ready for it.

"crews behind me are working around the clock to put out any small smoke spots or hotspots, you can even see here some behind.

They're hoping to put them out before the weekend when the wind starts to pick up and fuel the fire even more.

"and that's how we're preparing for the weekend, and the possibility of the winds and the dryness and the temperatures going up is just making sure we've got everything buttoned up.

Get as much done as we can right now.

So we're hitting it hard for the next couple days."

However, as winds are expected to sweep the area this weekend.

"the area around here of old forbestown and all that, is certainly an area of concern.

We believe that we have addressed what we could do up until now."

Carhart says protecting those homes is the top priority.

"really just trying to get every single home as prepared as it can, just in case the weather does turn out to be a problem and the fire does escape all of our lines, we're still confident that we're not going to lose any homes and we're going to be able to protect those."

And now crews can narrow in on that area of concern.

"now we've got it down to this relatively small area, but we've been able to bring some of those crews over.

So we have definently brought everything in and are concentrating on that one area so we're throwing everything at it that we can."

This is the map of evacuation orders and warnings from the butte county sheriff's office.

There are evacuation orders still in place for forbestown and clipper mills which are the closest communities to the bear fire at the moment.

Alan, back to you.

Temperatures are also expected to climb into the high 90's in that area over the weekend.
