Two Butte County elementary schools have been granted approval to reopen for in-person learning after submitting their waiver applications.

But first - two butte county schools have been given the green light for students to return to campus -- action news now reporter vanessa romo shows us their plan to keep kids safe.

I spoke to the principal at chico oaks adventist school and she tells me it was a two month process, they made a lot of changes, but now they say they're confident to bring their students back the butte county health department approved chico oaks adventist elementary school and paradise adventist elementary for in person instruction after they met state and local requirements... when they identified themselves at the butte county health department i was thinking i might have to fix something else but then she told me she was approving us and i was speechless... and then very excited.

According to bartsch the plan requires students and staff to wear a mask, sanitize, social distance and get temperature checks.

In addition, recess and lunch times were changed to separate kids.

Principal bartsch adds that the school will keep track of kids and faculty's health and be in constant contact with the local health department.

Safety is our number one priority with kids of course but our idea of a school and how we teach is to educate the whole child so we believe that this is the best place for them in person.

We believe we need to educate their physical, and spiritual.

The principal says teachers have already started prepping students to return.

The principal also tells me she plans to have school outside as much as possible.
