The Toyota USA Foundation approved funds to improve virtual learning in school districts in Itawamba, Monroe and Tippah counties.

Toyota wants to help school children in thirteen states get the best learning experience possible during the pandemic.

Today, the automaker donated money to several agencies including three northeast mississippi school districts.

"covid-19" according to emily lauder is one reason toyota wants to help.

Lauder is vice president of administration for the toyota motor manufacturing mississippi plant in blue springs.

She said the company is making the donations on behalf of the toyota foundation.

"education in the communities that we operate globally is a main priority for all of our locations to make sure that the children in the communities that we operate have the best possible educational opportunities."

The automaker donated $90,000 to the itawamba and south tippah county schools and $20,000 to the monore county schools.

The school districts serve a total of 8,400 students and the funding will go to distance learning projects.

"i think that this is important, especially here in northeast mississippi that we support our local schools to make sure that during this time of covid-19 that we have the ability for the children to learn virtually from home, and that they have the resources to do so successfully.

The superintendent of monroe county school district said in a statement the grant is to help with buying devices (what kind of devices) for students and teachers.
