Emergency response, Cal OES resources in Northern California

CAL OES is still working out its response to the continuing needs of wildfire evacuees all across our area.

How much federal help are we getting right now when it comes to these fires?

Well we've been really blessed to have a great relationship with the feds and you know the federal government has assisted us in a couple of different ways.

One is they offer these fire management assistance grants or fmegs you may have heard them called.

Weve gotten a number of those in fact i think were at the record number of getting fmegs that we've ever had in a fire season.

And what those do is those are designed and have a criteria that they would be applied to a fire that could potentially become a major disaster.

So idea is to put resources in as much as possible.

You know were dealing with the covid 19 pandemic hitting the state hard.

Now were dealing with these deadly fires.

Can you think of a time that we've had so many emergencies all at once that we're taking on like this?

I think i was saying earlier the complexity of the variety and the scope and the state of multiple events happening at the same time.

We need to take that all into account.

That itself has resulted in a large amount of aces and stress on everybody's par4t but we're working hard to navigate through that both for the protection of our firefighters, our responders, but also for the public as they getting them out and evacuating.
