Support he wanted from the city council to extend the city's mandatory mask mandate.

Good evening, i'm alan van zandt.

At their regular meeting tonight, council members approved on a 6-2 vote a resolution saying they supported the mayor's desire to extend the mandate for another 30 days.

The current mandate expires october 15th but the mayor has been vocal in his support of extending that order until coronavirus cases start to decrease in the area.

He added that he appreciated the comments from a couple council members about extending the order even longer.

We'll see where the numbers are and the medical opinion at the middle point of november.

If they dictate, maybe we'll extend for a period of time.

This doesn't seem to be soon."

Council member pj kovac said he would have been in support of the extension had it included a ban on smoking at the st.

Kovac said he personally has seen gamblers pull down their masks to smoke and then blow the smoke straight into the air.
