United Way's Renita Neville joins us to share how people can donate during the pandemic during their yearly fundraising campaign

Give to im c1 welcome back, we're going through a tough financial year and the need for help is great.

The united way's campaign is about to end.

What can do you if you want to give and missed your chance?

United way renita neville is here to talk about just that.

Renita, thank you for being here.

Let's talk about when the campaign is actually ending this year.

>> so officially the campaign ends next thursday november 5th.

>> okay.

So we don't have much time to give away for the official campaign.

What happens in the instance i come across the money i can give across that date?

>> we would never turn away a donation.

There's lots of ways to give.

A lot of work place campaigns allow giving year round.

But in addition to that, anyone can always mail in a check, drop by the office.

You can to call first because it's not open to the visitors.

There's always the opportunity to give online on our website.

>> okay.

I mentioned earlier the campaign is ending soon and it's a tough year.

A lot of things are playing into this.

How are donations so far this year?

>> well we really can't say you know how much we raised at this point.

I think that's largely because there's so much outstanding.

What we have seen is a lot of work places have continued to hold their work place campaigns and offer the ability to give through their paychecks to their employees and many of them are doing those internally or virtually and taking much longer to do that.

You're doing in smaller groups or not in person at all.

So the results are coming in slower than normal.

Which we fully expected.

>> yeah, i hope to still make your goal.

Is there any reasonable expectation to do that?

It's just going to take longer?

>> ironically, you mentioned the goal, we didn't set a goal this year.

Once we got into the process, we were well into covid and after meeting with quite a number of business leaders, we felt there was no way to set a goal with any accuracy.

Our goal is to raise as much money as we can.

>> what is the best way to get a hold of you or anybody at the united way?

>> call 816-364-2381 or go to our website, stjosephunited way.org.

>> thank you for being here.
