A leader of the recent Louisville protests is dead following an attempted carjacking.

Faith King shows us how he's being remembered.

Passionate about protesting police use of force was shot and killed on monday.

The mother of 21 year old travis nagdy says he was the victim of a carjacking.

Faith king spoke to some of nagdy's friends about how they are remembering him.

L3: abc 36 news white prominent figure in louisville protests shot dead "he came to us like a lot of young people did, and was like hey i want to jump out there, i want to lead from the front and we just gave him the megaphone and was like hey you just gotta go up there and do it."

And from that day you heard nagdy's voice at almost every protest.

His protest family describes as a ball of energy -- chris: "a lot of the marches were maybe 10 miles, 12 miles, 15 miles, and he's still in the front just walking, chanting.

Never got hoarse, i don't know how he never got hoarse."

And at only 21 years old, nagdy was like a son to most.

Chaunda lee: "that love right there, i got 8 kids.

He was my son."

Chaunda lee - one of nagdy's protest mom's says the things she'll most about him are his hugs..

Chaunda lee: "everybody out here gives me a hug but when he comes to hug me like he puts his arms, his wing span, is so wide."

Something her or his mother will never feel again... "you did a wonderful job with that young man, you raised a hero!"

On monday -- nagby's protest family surrounded his mother with love -- at the location her son took his last breath.

Around 12:25 am on monday -- reports of a shooting in the 21-hundred block of crittenden drive led lmpd officers to the 21 year old.

He had been shot multiple times and later died at university of louisville hospital.

His protest family says -- he's another person gone too soon -- but as they continue marching the streets of louisville , they will keep his name alive.

Again... the was faith king reporting.

A gofundme page was set up to cover funeral costs for nagdy.

The shooting remains under investigation.
