The harrisburg school district is now the latest in our area to shutdown for cleaning after positive covid-19 cases among their staff.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy joins us live from harrisburg with how long students will be staying home.

Matt and renew-- all the district campuses will be deep cleaned over the next two weeks to make sure the corobavirus doesn't spread anywhere ese.

Yesterday officials alerted families about two staff members who tested positive-- one of those worked in the food service department.

Because of that, the food service department will also be shutdown for the next two weeks for cleaning.

The superintendent says only that positive case came into contact with other staff memebers-- but no students were exposed.

Those who were exposed are being contacted by the district.

For the next two weeks-- all grade levelz will be taught remotely.

We were doing distance learning from grades 4 through 12 so it really this two week pause with or k through 3 is the most impacted with this.

Starr says they are working with linn county public health.

He says if any new cases are reported-- the district will notify families.

Matt and renee-- starr says the plan is to get at least k through 3 back in the classroom by december 7.

He says food service will also start back up that day too.
