Of all that, flu season is underway.

County health officials are fighting an uphill battle, while trying to spot test for the virus, and, stop its spread.

Newschannel 2's joleen ferris reports.

When covid first hit locally, we were coming out of flu season.

Now, we're heading into flu season.

And our covid numbers are higher than they've ever been .

None .

None 23:12 "we're gonna sprinkle the flu season on in the middle of this, we're doing that right now and some people have already tested positive for flu and covid" so it's dangerous" ellis says last week, there were four or five flu cases in the county.

Just yesterday and today, there were 346 new covid cases.

The county and the state did targeted covid testing monday thru wednesday of this week.

They tested about 450 people living in the 13501 zip code.

Stand up "so far they only have monday's nunbers for the targeted testing for the 13501 zip code here at union station, but so far, those numbers are encouraging' 19:11 "we don't have any results except for monday's, i believe we had five positives on monday's test list of 100- something tests done, so that was also good" 19:32 "it's very encouraging" between higher numbers, increased exposure and holiday travel, testing sites have been slammed.

One option some might not know about- precision clinical laboratories, on seneca turnpike, in clinton.

9:03 "our staff that are inside will come out to you with your paperwork.and once ou fill out your paperwork, they'll bring you out your test.

You actually do the test in your car, so you never actually go into the building, you never leave your car" 9:51 "99.8% accurate, which is one of the highest on the market today" insurance covers most tests.

To alleviate the local demand for testing locally, they now take drive ups, no appointments, monday through friday.
