Niger Coup:Junta leaders remain defiant as ECOWAS' deadline for return of normalcy ends this evening

The situation in Niger after the military coup has almost reached to a very dangerous level.

The talks of foreign interventions are growing..and along with it, the rhetorics of the West African block is also growing.

West African defence chiefs have made a plan for potential military intervention to reverse last week’s coup in Niger, including how and when to deploy forces.

ECOWAS’ ultimatum is very clear to Niger: Either reinstate democratically elected Nigerien President Mohamed Bazoum or face military intervention.

For the time being, the The Economic Community of West African States say that it will not divulge to the coup plotters when and where it will strike, but Abdel-Fatau Musah – ECOWAS commissioner for political affairs, peace and security – said on Friday that the decision will be taken by the bloc’s heads of state.

Russia, meanwhile, has warned of outside intervention in the country.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow was closely monitoring the situation and favoring "a swift return to constitutional normality without endangering human lives." #Nigercoup #Coupinniger #Mohammedbazoumniger ~PR.153~ED.194~HT.96~
