Lainey Wilson Breaks Female Wins Record at 2023 CMAs

If there is a role model for young girls today, it is country star Lainey Wilson.

The singer swept last night's CMA Awards, taking home an impressive five trophies for Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year for 'Wait in the Truck.'

Wilson's wins tie the one-year record, first set by Johnny Cash in 1969 and later matched by Vince Gill (1993) and Alan Jackson (2002) and she topped Alison Krauss, Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert's four wins in a night, to claim the female record.

Her perseverance in the country music scene has paid off after years in Nashville pursuing her dreams. The rising star realizes that with her success comes big responsibility.

'It means a lot to think there's a lot of little girls watching and looking up to me,' she said after the show last night in Nashville, 'I do feel a big responsibility, but I feel like I got it.

I feel like I can do it.

I'm not going to step outside of something... that I wouldn't be proud of 30 years from now.
