CD rates for the week of May 23: Rates inch up

CD rates continue to rise in the wake of the latest Federal Reserve rate hike, which increased the federal funds rate by another quarter point on May 3. The average interest rate on a 1-year CD is 1.68% as of May 17, up from 1.67% the previous week, according to Bankrate’s weekly survey.
