Your morning news now... twelve of the leading democratic presidential candidates gathered for a debate on tuesday night in ohio.

It was the largest debate field in modern history.

Candidates clashed on how they would solve problems like health care, income inequality, and opioid abuse... though each said they supported the impeachment inquiry into president trump.

C-b-s this morning' will rundown the most talked about' moments from the debate in just a few minutes.

Vice president mike pence leaves for turkey today.

President trump is sending him to try and negotiate a ceasefire deal ... for the region along the turkey/ syria border.

Turkish forces moved into the region shortly after president donald trump announced his plan to move u-s forces out.

Secretary of state mike pompeo will be traveling with the vice president.

((ad lib weather)) community members and colleagues are remembering dick swantz ... the longest serving superintendent of the la crosse school district.

He died this week.

He was superintendent from 19-77 to 19- 98.

After retiring ... he became an activist and got into politics... serving on the city council.

The director of the la crosse public education foundation' says swantz was the epitome of a public servant.'

La crosse's leaders are asking for your help in deciding how to revitalize neighborhoods ... using one- and- a- half- million dollars in federal grant money.

Residents can make their opinions known through an online community development' survey ... which is posted right now at city of la crosse dot org.'

In the past ... the annual grant has been used for things like individual home repairs ... and for small business loans.

"it takes about two weeks for the vaccine to do what it needs to do and get you protected and we want to protect not only you, but we would like to protect the general public as well."

It's time to get that flu shot!

The walk-in flu shot clinic is now open on the campus of mayo clinic health system in la crosse.

Gundersen's clinics in la crosse and onalaska open on october 28th.

New this morning ... pettibone park in la crosse is closed indefinitely.

According to a press release from the city last night ... the closure is because of flooding.

Another release will be sent when the park is open again.

Fall is here and la crosse's leaf collection sites' are now open.

You can take your leaves to any of the nine sites across the city.
