Dowe: we continue our coffee with the candidates segment -- where we invite candidates to come on our morning show to talk about their platform and issues facing the four-states.
This morning we were joined by dave lindstrom.
The republican is running for the vacant seat left by retiring u-s senator from kansas pat roberts.
Lindstrom was born in cambridge massachusettes and was a defensive end for the kansas city chiefs from 19-78 to 19-86.
After his stint with the n-f-l he became the owner of four burger king franchises in the kansas city area -- and served on the johnson county commission.
Lindstrom spoke out against the impeachment inquiry.
"i think it's politics and i think it's ugly.
It's part of the ugliness and the swamp of washington dc.
It's really a situtation where regardless of what president trump does.
There are those folks that say we're going to defeat him anyway we can.
And he makes a mistake or he does something that we don't condone and we think that allows us a crack in the door.
That we're going to stick a crowbar in there pry it open and impeach the president.
I think it's ridiculous."
Lindstrom is seeking the republican nomination in a crowded field of senate candidates that includes kris kobach, roger marshall, bryan pruitt, gabriel mark obles and susan wagle.
