The city of Fort Wayne made the push to “Paint the town blue” in order to build anticipation for the upcoming NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The workplace.

Many structures around the summit city got a new hue today..fox 55's jeremy masukevich tells us why the city of fort wayne is painting the town blue..

This is march a saying college basketball fans long for all year.and for college hoops fans in fort wayne, this march is extra special.later this month we will host eight teams at the allen county war memorial coliseum and so today we wanted to turn structures blue to get our residents excited to come out and support this event on march 20th and 21st the coliseum will play host for the quarter and semi-final rounds of the ncaa division 3 men's basketball tournament.you dont have to travel.

You literally can come out of your home, go to the coliseum and witness some amazing ncaa basketball parkview field, the mlk jr memorial bridge, and the lincoln tower are just a few of the structures that were building the anticipation for the upcoming tournament today.

If someone is a division 3 follower, or an alumni of those schools and they haven't been to fort wayne in a few years they are going to be pleasantly surprised on what they see happening around town.

Visit fort wayne anticipates the economic impact of hosting the tournament to be around 630,000 dollars.so that means more hotel rooms, more visitors to fort wayne and hopefully a better environment here in the arena for the games to happen.coliseum vice president of sales nathan dennison saw the benefits of playing host during last year's tournament.only hosting 4 teams last year dennison is looking forward to seeing those benefits expand.knowing that there are 8 teams coming to the event that means travelers, fans of those teams will be coming to town and that's a really big economic impact.in fort wayne, jeremy masukevich, fox 55 news 3
