Chico Police introduces eight new policies

The Chico Police Department posted on Facebook eight new policies it will be adding.

National campaign picking up support on social media called 'eight can't wait'- now our local police are joining the plan to make eight major changes in police violence or killings of civilians.

Chico p-d addressed each of the 8 demands, point by point on its facebook page.

One of the 8 issues calls for police to descalate a potentially violent situation.

Chico police posted on its facebook page that addresses this situation saying officers are committed to reducing potential violent confrontations.

Another one of the 8 can't wait concerns - chokeholds and strangleholds.

The department says its interim chief issued a directive suspending use of the carotid control hold exept in life or death situations..

A community member i spoke to say they hope this campaign will give people a sense of security.

"i think it's a good campaign i think it's definitely taking the right measure that will both drastically reduce police brutality as we see it as well as give people as sense of security if they come into contact with a police officer in the wrong way hopefully they will take solace in knowing that these actions are in place so hopefully it will keep people at ease," we reached out to chico pd but they could not comment at this time.

But on their facebook page they stressed the fact- that they are trying to reduce violent incidents.
