For those who have meals delivered or care teams come into their home to help, it's been difficult to receive the same services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In-home services have had to switch normal operations around to meet the essential needs.

During the covid-19 pandemic, people who need in home care services have faced difficult times getting the help they need caleb saylor explains how these services have changed to adapt to the pandemic.

Kristina and her foster brother tim are inseparable.

That because tim has cerebral palsy and kristina is his in home caregiver.

The in home services they receive is essential to quality of life.

The family receives help through caregiver homes, an organization the helps people provide care.

The covid-19 pandemic has switched things around for kristina and tim ?

They used to come over and we would have monthly meetings with the .

Currently we can do that because of covid-19.

Regina smelser works with kristina and tim through caregiver homes.

She says instead of in person visits, they had to switch everything to all virtual.

We had to amp up our amount of communication that we're doing through that technology platform.

So we're sending lots more messages.

We do a lot of chatting with our caregivers and checking in with them.

I can check in with them multiple times per day if i want to just to really know what's going on.

It not just in home medical care been impacted.

Getting prescriptions or even food has been more of a challenge.

Megan clouse with aging and in home services of northeast indiana says programs like meals-on-wheels needed help to meet the growing neede applied for a lot of grants and the community has been fantastic with awarding us those grants.

The united way has given us funds for both meals and also precautionary kits for clients, which has been super awesome for all of them.

She says they miss bowling and going to the grocery store, but they miss getting to see their in home care people as well, just to connect and get the help theye ready to see them we tim?
