Mandate won't be going away just yet.

"today with the support of dr. harris, i'm extending our current safer at home order until the end of august."

Alabama governor kay ivey made that announcement in the past hour.

She also announced students from the second grade through university must wear a mask if they are attending in person classes.

Statewide, alabama picked up nearly 13 hundred new cases and 43 deaths.

With those new cases, the state has more than 81- thousand cases since testing started in march.

Alabama also reported nearly ten thousand people in the hospital with coronavirus since march 13th.
