La Clinica offers help or low-income families during the pandemic

Disadvantaged families have a harder time following many of the recommendations to reduce the spread of COVID-19 due to environmental factors.

New studies show adults who make less than 15-thousand dollars a year have a higher risk of getting sick from the coronavirus.

Thats all according to the henry j-kaiser family foundation.

Its studies show that those same adults are almost 20-percent more like to get coronavirus compared to people who make around 50-thousand dollars.

La clinica facilities which helps low income patients.

Has received a grant from the oregon health authority.

The clinic is using that money to help patients with the virus.

Who might not be able to do social distancing.

"some of these individuals may not be able to quaratnine in their own homes becasue they have a congregate living situation and they live with 9 or 10 other family members which would put those family members at risk, and so we have some wrap around services to be able to help connect them to some resources."
