Of the eighth.

And the first day will be virtual for all students, which the superintendent says is important.

I'll tell you why in a moment...but here's a quick rundown of their hybrid plan.

They'll have two groups..."a" and "b" kids.

Th "a" kids will have in-person instruction two days a week and remote three days.

Same for the b- kids....just opposite days.

But both groups will do just remote on wednesday so the district can clean.

Here's why starting instruction on that wednesday is important.... tonight, the board voted to move their professional development day ,which is october ninth, to tuesday september 8, which would have been the first day of instruction.

This means the first day of instruction would be on wednesday september 9th, which is a remote learning day for all students.

The superintendent explains why this is helpful going forward.

Gaffney says: "the fisrt of instruction would be virtual, that thursday and friday would be for our students where we can do the modeling that we're expected to do and when the kids actally do come for live instruction, we can take that first week and there's actually equity there number one, so the a kids and the b kids will have a consistent day each instead of two days for ab and one day for an a is one rationale but the other rationale is we're expected to when the kids come in for live instruction we really need to take that week, and model what the new class is going to look like."

Both principals for the elementary school and high schools say they've cleaning very thoroughly.

They also say their auditoriums and lunch rooms are set up, so students can socially distance.

That october ninth professional development day, will be used as an instruction day for the students.
